Juddmonte Farm’s World’s Best Racehorse Arrogate had his third breeze since returning to the the work tab at Santa Anita on Sunday, covering a half-mile at Santa Anita in :46 4/5 to earn the bullet of 105 works. According to bloodhorse.com, the gray 4-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song was ridden by regular work rider Martin Garcia as he continues to prepare for a start during the Del Mar meeting, either in the San Diego Handicap on July 22 or the Pacific Classic on Aug. 19.
“He went nice—just cruised around there,” said trainer Bob Baffert. “I had him in :47 1/5, and a gallop out (to five furlongs in 1:00), but it looked like he went in :48. That’s just him.”
Also on the work tab at The Great Race Place on Sunday was Santa Anita Oaks victress Paradise Woods for trainer Richard Mandella. The 3-year-old daughter of Union Rags breezed a half in :48 1/5 under assistant/exercise rider Alex Bisono.
“She got three weeks off at Julie Adair-Stack’s place—where I’ve sent Beholder and others,” Mandella said, explaining the filly’s absence. “She continued to ride her, though, so it wasn’t a complete turnout—just no racetrack. It’s a little break.”
