Arrogate ‘Looked Fantastic’ In Sunday Breeze, Leaves For Dubai Monday

The highest-rated horse in the world, Juddmonte Farm’s Arrogate had his final work at Santa Anita on Sunday, before he loads on to a plane for the United Arab Emirates on Monday. The 4-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song worked seven furlongs under regular work rider Martin Garcia in 1:25 2/5, out-finishing workmate Cat Burglar at the wire. Trainer Bob Baffert was pleased with the work, according to, and believes Arrogate ready to take on all comers in the $ 10 million Dubai World Cup.

“He had a hard breeze last week,” Baffert said. “The track was sort of dull (Sunday), but he looked fantastic. He went around like he usually does, never taking a deep breath. He’s got to be 100% for me to take him, and he leaves tomorrow.”

Once he arrives at the Meydan Racecourse, Baffert said that Arrogate will likely not do much more than gallop over the surface, though he will consider an easy breeze. The colt will face competition from Gun Runner, Hoppertunity and Neolithic as the rest of the American contingent in Dubai, but a win in the world’s second-richest race would take Arrogate’s earnings to over $ 17 million, surpassing those of champion California Chrome ($ 14,752,650).
