Back To Work: Champion Runhappy Turns In First Work Of 2016

Champion male sprinter Runhappy returned to the worktab for the first time this year when he worked three furlongs at Keeneland early Thursday morning.

According to the Blood-Horse, the 4-year-old Super Saver colt vanned to Keeneland from his base at the Kentucky Training Center. The colt went three furlongs in :34 4/5, a half-mile in :46, and five furlongs in :59.

Runhappy captured the G1 King’s Bishop, G3 Phoenix Stakes, G1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint, and G1 Malibu Stakes on his way to winning the Eclipse Award last year as champion male sprinter. He has been hampered this year by various injuries, the most recent being a bone bruise on his right front cannon.
