Black Caviar’s First Foal Breaks Her Maiden In Her Second Start

Black Caviar’s first foal, the 3-year-old filly Oscietra, broke her maiden in her second career start at Geelong Racecourse Aug. 11.

Racing.com reports that the filly, who is trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, took the lead shortly after the start and pulled away to win the five-furlong contest on the synthetic track by 1 3/4 lengths.

Oscietra finished third in her first start, which was back on New Year’s Day.

“It was a great relief for her to win today. David’s got her in great order,” co-owner Neil Werrett said afterwards. “”She’s very fit. David spent a lot of time getting her ready, so we’re very relieved.”

Oscietra, who is by Exceed And Excel, is Black Caviar’s first foal, and her first foal to race. The undefeated champion is currently in foal to More Than Ready, and is due to foal in September.
