PUNTERS think Saturday’s Racing Post Trophy will be going home with Aidan O’Brien, but there is some difference in opinion on which of his runners will claim the Group 1, as there was a rush of support for Yucatan on Wednesday.
Runner-up to Capri in the Beresford Stakes, Yucatan is now 6-4 favourite with bet365, with Capri out to 2-1.
Other firms have the pair as 7-4 joint-favourites, with all the money on Wednesday coming for Yucatan.
Capri headed the market as a general 5-4 shot at the start of the week, but has weakened in the face of support for his stablemate, who was a 5-1 shot on Monday, and still available at 4-1 on Tuesday morning.
Coral and Ladbrokes were the first to slash Yucatan’s odds, making him their 15-8 second-favourite, with Coral anticipating “he could be favourite within hours” in their market.
Spokesman David Stevens said on Wednesday: “Capri was all the rage for the season’s final Group 1 yesterday and was as short as evens, but from last night through to this morning it has been all about Yucatan, suggesting there is not much between the stablemates.”
