Dermot Weld-Trained Mare Zhukova Will Line Up Against Males In Belmont’s Man O’War

The 5-year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock, out of a daughter of Galileo, is a dual Group 3 winner and three-time listed stakes winner in Europe. In one of those listed victories, Zhukova defeated the previous year’s Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Found. The mare and groom Caroline Cashman arrived at Belmont on May 4, and has been galloping over the main track since Sunday.

“He would like a crack at a Grade 1, and it’s a nice, big, galloping track, which she likes,” Cashman said.
