Exaggerator To Train At Churchill Downs For Pennsylvania Derby

Preakness winner Exaggerator is shipping to Churchill Downs where he will continue his preparation for the G2 Pennsylvania Derby.

The Daily Racing Form reports that the 3-time Grade 1 winner is set to van from Saratoga to Churchill Downs Friday. Trainer Keith Desormeaux indicated that he had hoped to train Exaggerator at Keeneland, but there weren’t any stalls available, due to the upcoming September sale.

Desormeaux told the DRF that running Exaggerator in the Pennsylvania Derby “makes sense for a variety of reasons.”

“There’s no doubt the monetary incentive, the purse being $ 1.25 million, it’s restricted to 3-year-olds – the last opportunity to run against restricted horses in his life – means a lot, it’s compelling,” Desormeaux said.
