Footpad: Racing Post Novice Chase (2017)

Stunning – Footpad absolutely blazes his rivals aside in a scintillating performance on day one of the Leopardstown Christmas Festival to land the Grade 1 Racing Post Novice Chase for trainer Willie Mullins, jockey Paul Townend and owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede.

Fourth in the Champion Hurdle, this horse was not far off the very top over the smaller obstacles but it seems jumping fences is his real calling – fantastic on chase debut at Navan last month, the-year-old puts in a stunning effort to a first Grade 1 victory here at Leopardstown.

The Irish Arkle at the Dublin Racing Festival will seemingly be next, followed by a trip to the Cheltenham Festival in March. Who can bet against this one in the Arkle Challenge Trophy?
