QUEST FOR MORE will be tasked with winning a first Group 1 when he tackles the Prix du Cadran at Chantilly on Saturday.
Roger Charlton’s star stayer, who was successful in the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup at York last month before narrowly missing out in the same grade in the Doncaster Cup, is one of 12 horses declared for the feature contest on Saturday’s Chantilly card.
There is a strong British challenge as Quest For More will be joined in making the journey to France by Sir Mark Prescott’s Amour De Nuit, Marcus Tregoning’s Burmese, Seamus Durack’s Cayirli and Hughie Morrison’s Nearly Caught.
The leading contender among the home contingent is prolific winner Vazirabad, who has already been successful at Group 1 level.
Vazirabad has won eight of his last nine races, with the one defeat coming over an inadequate mile-and-a-half trip in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.
A maximum of 16 horses will go to post in Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe after Zarak was taken out at the latest forfeit stage. Final declarations will be made on Friday morning.
Postponed heads the betting at 2-1 from Japanese raider Makahiki at 5-1 and Found at 7-1. The ground is currently good.
