Grade 1 winner Paradise Woods, who finished off the board as the heavy favorite in the G1 Kentucky Oaks, will undergo a nuclear scan to check on her physical condition.
Trainer Richard Mandella told the Daily Racing Form that the upcoming tests were being done as a precautionary measure. Paradise Woods arrived back in California earlier this week.
“She came home in good shape,” Mandella told the Form. “We’ll do a nuclear scan because she ran such a bad race. She looks good. We don’t see anything.”
Paradise Woods captured the G1 Santa Anita Oaks prior to running at Churchill Downs. In the Kentucky Oaks, the daughter of Union Rags battled with Miss Sky Warrior until the top of the stretch before fading to finish tenth.
