Terrakova remained perfect in two starts when she rallied from just off the pace to win the G3 Prix Cleopatre at Saint-Cloud May 23.
The race marked the stakes debut for the beautifully-bred 3-year-old filly, who is by Galileo out of three-time G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner, Goldikova. One of Terrakova’s rivals in the 10-furlong contest was Terre (Motivator – Trevise), a full sister to two-time G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner, Treve.
According to the Racing Post, Terre took command soon out of the starting gate and proceeded to lead the field through the early stages of the race. As the field entered the home straight, Terre began to fade as Terrakova began her rally, splitting horses and going to the lead with about a furlong remaining. She held off the late charge by Panthelia to win by three-quarters of a length.
Trainer Freddy Head indicated after the race that Terrakova would be pointed to the G1 Prix de Diane June 18. She may face Terre once again in that race. Criquette Head-Maarek, trainer of Terre, said that the filly’s tongue had slipped over the bit and she was then unable to breathe.
Terrakova is the second foal out of the 14-time Group/Grade 1 winner Goldikova. Goldikova’s first foal is the 4-year-old colt, Goldikovic, a full brother to Terrakova. She also has a yearling filly, Goldika (by Intello), and she produced a full sister to Terrakova in February.
