THE TIN MAN is being pointed towards the bet365 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury next weekend before potentially taking on bigger targets at Goodwood and Haydock later in the season.
Trained by James Fanshawe for the Fred Archer Racing partnership, The Tin Man failed to fire after racing keenly in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, where he was after sent off a well-supported second favourite.
Connections have opted against taking in the Darley July Cup on Saturday but races such as the Qatar King George Stakes at Goodwood and the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock are both options for the four-year-old.
Writing on his website, Fanshawe said: “Everything has been a rush for The Tin Man this season and it would be nice to go into a race without any hassle.
“He has come out of the Diamond Jubilee very well but there are some good Group 1 sprint races at the end of the year to still concentrate on.”
Healthy Sprint Cup entry
The Tin Man was one of 34 horses confirmed on Wednesday for the Group 2 King George Stakes alongside the likes of Air Force Blue, Muthmir, Goldream, Outback Traveller and Profitable.
The Tin Man was also one of 52 horses entered for the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock, as were last year’s one-two-three Twilight Son, Strath Burn and Magical Memory.
