He Hate Me Rallies In The Stretch To Win The Tremont Stakes

He Hate Me (Algorithms) and jockey Ricardo Santana Jr. win the Tremont at Belmont Park 6/9/17. Trainer: Horacio DePaz. Owner: Sagamore Farm

He Hate Me swept past longtime leader Direct Dial in the stretch to post a 3 1/4-length victory in the listed Tremont Stakes at Belmont Park.

It was the first stakes victory for the 2-year-old son of Algorithms, who remains perfect in two starts.

Breaking a step slowly under jockey Ricardo Santana Jr., He Hate Me was settled fourth early, about three lengths off the leader, Direct Dial. He Hate Me began to make up ground on the far turn, as Santana Jr. maneuvered him off the rail and to the outside.

Set down for the drive in the stretch, He Hate Me rallied strongly to collar Direct Dial with a furlong to go, then pulled away for the victory.

Direct Dial held onto second by a nose over Admiral Jimmy. Final time for the 5 1/2-furlong contest was 1:04.47.

He Hate Me was bred in Florida by Mike Mareina and Nathan Mitts. He is out of Quiet Holiday, an unraced daughter of Harlan’s Holiday.

He Hate Me was purchased for $ 90,000 at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton July sale. He is trained by Horatio DePaz for owner Sagamore Farm.
