KEEPER HILL rallied back to wear down Messire Des Obeaux in the home straight to beat him on the line in a dramatic finish in the Listed Sidney Banks Memorial Novices’ Hurdle.

After an impressive performance Keeper Hill is now quoted at a best-priced 20-1, down from 33-1, for the Neptune Hurdle at Cheltenham next month.

Jockey Gavin Sheehan increased the tempo throughout the race to ensure enough pressure was applied to favourite Messire Des Obeaux, who carried an 8lb penalty.

Trainer Warren Greatrex bagged his second consecutive win of this race after Ma Du Fou crossed the line in front for him last year.

He said: “Keeper Hill did everything wrong and still found a way to win. He’s got a lot of talent and is still very raw and we’ll have a look at the Neptune after that.”

Alan King, trainer of runner-up Messire Des Obeaux: “He lost nothing in defeat and the Neptune remains the plan. This was just a prep and this wasn’t his track.”
