DAVID PROBERT will miss out on riding Dancing Star in the Group 1 Sprint Cup after suffering a dislocated and broken wrist in a fall after the line in the concluding 5½f handicap at Chester on Saturday.

Probert has ridden the improving Dancing Star on all five starts this season but will not be fit in time for the Haydock feature on Saturday week.

“It’s not good news really,” the rider said. “I’ve dislocated and broken my wrist.

“I’m not quite sure if I will need to have an operation yet and I have to go back to the orthopedic [doctor] this week to check to see how it is healing. As soon as it starts healing I imagine it might be four to six weeks [before I return].

“I’m sat with a cast on my arm. There’s a bit of pain but it’s bearable.”

The Andrew Balding-trained Dancing Star, who hails from the family of the great Lochsong, has won four of her five starts this season and connections have stated they will supplement her for the Sprint Cup, for which she is a best price of 12-1 with Betfair and Paddy Power and as short as 8-1 in places.
