JAMIE SPENCER is to be reunited with Arod for the first time in nearly two years in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.

Spencer, who put Sheikh Fahad’s colt through his paces on the Limekilns in Newmarket on Friday morning, steps in for Oisin Murphy who has decided to ride the owners’ other entry Lightning Spear in opening race of the five-day meeting.

Spencer, who was first jockey to Qatar Racing until the end of 2014, rode Arod on his first six starts including when fourth to Australia in the Derby in 2014.

Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam is hoping it stays dry between now and Tuesday for his star who was a late absentee from the Diomed Stakes at Epsom last week due to the ground.

Chapple-Hyam said of the 16-1 chance: “Arod worked well but as always we’ll be keeping an eye on the weather.”
