Prix de Diane Longines (Group 1) 3yo fillies

FAVOURITE La Cressonnierre  ran out the winner of a rough renewal of the Prix de Diane, giving her trainer Jean-Claude Rouget his fourth winner in the race.

Left Hand finished second and the fancied Volta was in third to complete a French 1-2-3.

Coolmore raider Ballydoyle was unable to pose a threat after being hampered at the start, while sole British challenger Swiss Range faded in the straight after racing prominently.

There was drama about a furlong and a half from home when the Pierre-Charles Boudot-ridden Armande clipped heels and came down when in mid-division, while Tierra Del Fuego was pulled up entering the home straight.

La Cressonniere managed to avoid most of the melee and was produced by Cristian Demuro on the wide outside, and despite drifting right under the whip the daughter of Le Harve was able to get the measure of Left Hand to extend her unbeaten record to five races.

It was Rouget’s second Group 1 winner in three days after his Qemah landed the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
