Sheep Pond Partners’ Lady Eli worked a half-mile in :52.20 over Belmont Park’s inner turf course Sunday morning, reports bloodhorse.com. The 4-year-old undefeated daughter of Divine Park (with $ 1.4 million in earnings) is continuing to make progress following a battle with laminitis last year, and again following a small bit of tendon inflammation this spring.
“She went fine,” said trainer Chad Brown. “It was a slow work—about :52 and change—but we just wanted to stretch her legs and see how she reacted. Next we we’ll start to pick it up with her. We’re being careful with her because we have a long way to go.”
Brown said that Lady Eli would move with his string to Saratoga, where she will continue to prepare for her first start since the July 4 Belmont Oaks Invitational last summer. He did not indicate a specific race for the filly.
