Alex Venneri and Little Red Feather’s Midnight Storm is on track for a start in Saturday’s G2 Oaklawn Handicap, reported drf.com. The 6-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile was most recently second to Shaman Ghost in the Santa Anita Handicap, but trainer Phil D’Amato said that he has been training very well leading up to the trip to Arkansas.
“He just hasn’t missed a beat,” D’Amato said Monday. “He’s training so well right now. He’s just full of himself. It’s all systems go, is basically what he’s telling me, so we’re going to head on out.”
‘Big money’ Mike Smith will be in the irons on Saturday, when Midnight Storm will tote the highest weight of the field with 122 pounds. Other probable candidates for the Oaklawn Handicap include Accelerate, Domain’s Rap and Texas Chrome. Post positions will be drawn Wednesday.
