GRAND NATIONAL sponsor Randox Health has expanded its racing portfolio to include Cheltenham after backing a pair of £50,000 handicap chases at the track next month.
The healthcare diagnostics company’s sponsorship will make the two races on October 22 the richest contests staged at Cheltenham’s two-day Showcase meeting, which starts the previous day and kicks off the season at Prestbury Park.
In March this year, Randox Health agreed a five-year deal to become the title sponsor of the Grand National from 2017 and the company was also unveiled as the official healthcare partner of the Jockey Club.
Founder and managing director Dr Peter FitzGerald is looking forward to the Showcase meeting, which also marks the beginning of a rollout of Randox Health branding across Jockey Club courses.
“We’re thrilled to be able to bring the name of Randox Health to the participants and viewers of the Randox Handicap Chase [3m1f] and the Randox Health Handicap Chase [2m],” he said.
“The races mark the beginning of our partnership with the Jockey Club, whose courses are the perfect platform to highlight the benefits of our Randox Health preventive health programmes to the public, and also to bring the other diagnostic capabilities of our healthcare company, including equine health and food testing, among others, to the attention of equestrian enthusiasts.
“Our health is our most valuable commodity and so we want to keep the horseracing fraternity healthy so they are able to enjoy such fantastic events as the Showcase.”
Carey Buckler, JCR’s head of partnerships for the south-west region, said: “I’m delighted that Randox Health are to sponsor at Cheltenham during the Showcase.
“Their involvement with the Jockey Club is really exciting and it’s great that we are able to work with them across the group ahead of next year’s Randox Health Grand National.”
