NEMORALIA will contest the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat on Sunday instead of Friday’s Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes after Jeremy Noseda decided the track at Chantilly would suit his filly better than Newmarket.
Owned by James Lovat, Terry Allan and Charlie Pigram, Nemoralia finished second in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot last month despite connections fearing the good to soft ground would not be in the three-year-old’s favour.
And having performed so well with things not to her liking, Nemoralia is set to be given her chance to run under conditions which should suit her better on Sunday.
“We’re very much looking towards going to the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly on Sunday,” Noseda told At The Races. “I think she likes a flat track and the July Course, with that uphill finish, is not what she really wants. It looks like the Jean Prat is a race she can be extremely competitive in.”
In total eight fillies were declared for the Falmouth Stakes on Friday, topped by Duke of Cambridge Stakes winner Usherette.
Godolphin are also set to field Always Smile and Very Special in the 1m Group 1 contest, while last year’s first and second, Amazing Maria and Euro Charline, are back again. The field is completed by Irish Rookie, Alice Springs and Ashadihan.
The going at Newmarket was changed to good to firm, good in places from good on Tuesday with watering also set to take place with a dry forecast for the remainder of Wednesday.
