NEMORALIA is set to miss Saturdays featured Group 2 Betfred Hungerford Stakes at Newbury, for which she is 7-2 joint-favourite with the sponsors, in favour of an alternative target at York next week.
Jeremy Noseda’s stable-star who is 3-1 joint market leader with Home Of The Brave in some lists, had also been under consideration for a trip to the US for the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks until connections opted for a domestic campaign.
The daughter of More Than Ready ran her best race to date when finishing second to Qemah in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot in June but then was slightly disappointing when fifth at the same level in the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly last month.
After putting the three-year-old through her paces on the Al Bahathri this morning, Noseda said: “We are more likely to run Nemoralia at York next week rather than at Newbury where the Hungerford looks a strong race.”
“We know she loves the Knavesmire as she won there on her reappearance and the Group 3 Sky Bet City Of York Stakes next Friday looks the ideal race for her. We had looked at going to Del Mar but it’s a long trip over to the west coast of the US which wouldn’t have been ideal.”
