Noble Bird, seen here winning the 2016 Pimlico Special
Noble Bird won’t have the chance to defend his title in the G3 Pimlico Special on Friday after trainer Mark Casse decided to scratch the son of Birdstone from the race.
The BloodHorse reports that Noble Bird instead will be given some time off, with the hopes that the freshening will help get the G1 winner back “on form”. Noble Bird has finished out of the money in his last four starts.
“When we came here, we said we’re going to enter him and if we like the race and he trains good, we’ll run him,” Casse told the BloodHorse. “He’s going to go home for about a two-month rest. He hasn’t had any time off in a long time and he needs to regroup.”
