Order Of St George – Irish St Leger (2017)

A relentless galloper and a real class act on his day – Order Of St George notches his second Comer Group International Irish St Leger with a commanding victory at the Curragh on Irish Champions Weekend under jockey Ryan Moore for trainer Aidan O’Brien.

Now a three-time winner at the top level, victory here never seemed in any kind of doubt – the son of Galileo won by nine lengths.

A race in which he finished third last year, it’s looking likely that Order Of St George is set to take in Chantilly for another crack at the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

After a bravura performance here, Moore said: “He’s a horse with an awful lot of ability.”

Order Of St George joins Vintage Crop, Kayf Tara, Vinnie Roe and Oscar Schindler as winners of the Irish St Leger on more than once occasion.
