Paradise Woods’ Final KY Oaks Work Has Mandella ‘Pretty Excited’

Wygod and Sarkowsky’s Paradise Woods and jockey Flavien Prat win the Grade I Santa Anita Oaks

Santa Anita Oaks winner Paradise Woods had her final major workout for the Kentucky Oaks Thursday morning at Santa Anita.

The BloodHorse reports that the daughter of Union Rags worked six furlongs in 1:12 2/5, in a move that had trainer Richard Mandella saying he was “pretty excited” afterwards.

Paradise Woods splits for the workout were as follows – :23 4/5, :35 1/5, and :59 1/5; galloping out to seven furlongs in 1:26 2/5. Regular rider Flavien Prat was aboard.

Paradise Woods, who likely will be one of the favorites for the G1 classic, will ship to Churchill Downs on Monday, May 1.
