Further showers are forecast for Tuesday and clerk of the course Chris Stickels does not anticipate any change to the going based on the current outlook.

“We had 4mm overnight and it’s now soft,” said Stickels. “It was drizzling at about 6 but it’s stopped since then.

“It’s cloudy and breezy at the moment, with intermittent sunshine but we are forecast showers later though.

“I don’t imagine I’ll be changing the ground again today but that, of course, depends on the forecast being correct and there not being any more rain than that.”

Non-runners

Only one non-runner was added to the two already known about early on Tuesday, with Goldream withadrawn from the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes due to the ground.

Both Acapulco and Sole Power had already been removed from the same race
