Songbird wins the G1 Ogden Phipps

Champion Songbird turned in her first work since capturing the G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes when she breezed a half-mile in 48.20 seconds at Santa Anita June 22.

The Daily Racing Form reported that clockers recorded Songbird’s work as “breezing”, meaning she wasn’t urged by her rider.

Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer told the Form that Songbird had recovered quickly from her victory in the Ogden Phipps.

“We gave her plenty of time,” Hollendorfer said. “She’s doing very good.”

Hollendorfer indicated that the champion filly remains a candidate for the G1 Clement Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar July 30.
