Saxon Warrior – Juddmonte Beresford Stakes (2017)

A Classic colt – Saxon Warrior makes it two from two with an easy victory in the Group 2 Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at Naas under jockey Ryan Moore for trainer Aidan O’Brien.

By Japanese sensation Deep Impact out of Group 1-winning mare Maybe, Saxon Warrior is bred in the purple and has made a very bright start, following up here after a visually striking performance to get off the mark at the first time of asking at the Curragh last month.

Aidan O’Brien has won the Beresford Stakes with the likes of St Leger winner Capri and St Nicholas Abbey, and this victory here was a remarkable seventh in a row and 17th in total for the trainer.

Saxon Warrior is generally second-favourite for next year’s Investec Derby at Epsom at 12/1, although the colt is favourite in some lists after doing very little wrong so far…
