Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer returned to Saratoga Tuesday night to check in on his undefeated champion Songbird.
The Daily Racing Form reports that the Hall of Fame conditioner was pleased with how well the daughter of Medaglia d’Oro has been doing since her powerful victory in the G1 Coaching Club American Oaks July 24.
“To me, she looks fabulous; brighter than when I first saw her here,” Hollendorfer told the Form Wednesday morning. Songbird galloped 1 1/2 miles after schooling in the paddock. “She’s really gotten used to being here.”
Hollendorfer had intended to work Songbird Wednesday, but decided to hold off another day to give the main track additional time to dry after the area dealt with rain and storms on Monday and Tuesday.
“The track is safe today,” Hollendorfer said. “It’ll be safer tomorrow.”
