Undefeated champion Songbird has arrived safely at Parx Racing in Bensalem, PA Monday evening. The sophomore daughter of Medaglia d’Oro was flown from Santa Anita Monday morning, then vanned in to the track this evening.
The Jerry Hollendorfer trainee is scheduled for a start in Saturday’s $ 1 million Cotillion Stakes, where she will face five rivals. Songbird, unbeaten in her 10 career starts for earnings of $ 2.7 million, will line up from post position five in the field of six, and is listed at 1-2 on the morning line odds.
Her major rivals in the Cotillion include Cathryn Sophia and Carina Mia, listed at 5-2 and 5-1 on the morning line, respectively. Two starts back, Songbird soundly defeated Carina Mia in the G1 Coaching Club American Oaks. Cathryn Sophia, the Kentucky Oaks winner, has yet to face Songbird, though she does have the advantage of having raced over the Parx surface when she romped in the Princess of Sylmar Stakes last out.
