ALICE SPRINGS registered her third Group 1 success of the season when getting the better of a good tussle with Alice Springs to win the Sun Chariot.

Alice Springs had produced a jet-propelled finish to win the Matron Stakes by three and a quarter lengths at Leopardstown last month and another wide-margin victory looked on the cards when she moved powerfully under Ryan Moore to take a share of the lead on the approach to the final furlong.

However, Always Smile knuckled down well and made the Aidan O’Brien-trained filly work hard to register her three-quarter length success.

Ervedya ran creditably to finish third a length behind the principals.
