AIDAN O’BRIEN’S Classic-winning colt The Gurkha underwent surgery at Fethard Equine Hospital on Friday night.
Full details regarding the injury sustained by the Sussex Stakes and French 2,000 Guineas winner have yet to emerge, but reportedly the son of Galileo was discharged on Saturday morning and is back in his box at Ballydoyle.
The Gurkha has run up a string of top-class performances this season and gained revenge on Galileo Gold – who beat him by a length and a quarter in the St James’s Palace Stakes – in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last month.
He also finished runner-up to Hawkbill in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.
Future plans will be announced at a later date.
