Stonestreet Stables’ Tara’s Tango and jockey Martin Garcia win the Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo Handicap,
Tara’s Tango, winner of the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes in March, will head to Keeneland next week where she will contest the G1 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes Oct. 9.
The Daily Racing Form reports that the 4-year-old filly by Unbridled’s Song will try to add a second G1 win to her resume while avoiding two of the top older mares in the country, Beholder and Stellar Wind. Both of those fillies will run in the G1 Zenyatta Stakes at Santa Anita Oct. 1.
“We’re looking at the Spinster, because the race is coming up light and it doesn’t have Beholder and Stellar Wind,” trainer Jerry Hollendorfer told the DRF Tuesday.
Should Tara’s Tango do well in the race, it is possible she could run in either the Breeders’ Cup Disfaff or the BC Filly & Mare Sprint.
