After appearing “very, very dull” over the past few days, trainer Mark Casse has decided not to run champion Tepin in the G1 Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga Aug. 13.
The Daily Racing Form reported that as a result, Tepin will not breeze this weekend as had been planned.
“She’s not coming around as fast as I’d like,” Casse told the DRF. “If we were going to run in the Fourstardave we had to breeze her this weekend and I’m not ready to breeze her.”
Tepin did gallop Friday morning over the main track. Casse said she looked better but added, “I don’t want to work her off one good day.”
Casse said Tepin could possibly run in the G2 Ballston Spa here on Aug. 27, which has been mentioned as a possible for Lady Eli’s return.
