Tercentenary favourite Taqdeer ruled out

TAQDEER, ante-post favourite for Thursday’s Tercentenary Stakes, was on Friday ruled out of Royal Ascot.

The John Gosden-trained colt has won two out of three starts, the latest when defeating Godolphin’s Prize Money on Guineas weekend at Newmarket, and was “one of our best chances of the week”, according to owner Hamdan Al Maktoum’s racing manager Angus Gold.

“He just hasn’t been moving right in the last week so we have had to pull up stumps, which is a shame because he was one of our best chances of the week,” said Gold.

Taqdeer was 6-1 with Paddy Power for the Group 3 race, the acceptors for which will be published on Friday.

Henry Candy confirmed on Friday that Limato will be aimed at the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday. The Group 2 winner will remain in the Diamond Jubilee entries as back up in case the going eases to soft.
