The top two finishers in the G1 Irish 2,000 Guineas will face each other once again next week at Royal Ascot.
According to a report at Irishracing.com, both Churchill and Thunder Snow – the Guineas winner and runner-up, respectively – are set to line up in the G1 St. James’s Palace Stakes June 20. The race is one of three Group 1 races scheduled for the first day of the prestigious meet.
Thunder Snow’s trainer, Saeed bin Suroor, admitted that his charge has a tough task ahead of him in the St. James’s Palace.
“Thunder Snow tries hard in his races, but Churchill beat him comfortably at the Curragh, and that colt is again the one to beat,” bin Suroor told Irishracing. ” He is our best horse, and he has done very well after coming back home from Ireland.”
“He will run well, but it is a very tough race.”
