After weeks of “refusing to focus on his work” and being too “unmanageable,” the unraced chestnut colt by Philanthropist had finally pushed trainer Justin Snaith’s patience just a little too far. As a result, the South African trainer decided to take the drastic step and gelded President Trump.
Snaith, who has been a successful trainer for many years based in Cape Town, had tried everything he could think of to get the equine version of President Trump to concentrate and to “take his profession seriously,” to little avail, according to a story in the Racing Post.
“President Trump was very vocal and would not focus on his work,” Snaith said recently. “I found him to be extremely stubborn. I considered blinkers and a tongue-tie but he was so unmanageable that I had no option but to geld him.”
Since he underwent the procedure, President Trump (Philanthropist x Gilmore Girl, by Roi Normand) has “settled down” and is “doing great” – although he’s still “arrogant,” Snaith says.
