Australian superstar Winx has returned to training after her winter vacation, trainer Chris Waller told racing.com on Tuesday. The daughter of Street Cry will likely start her spring campaign in the Warwick Stakes and point toward the Cox Plate at the end of the season, but Waller has not decided which races she will contest in between.
“I am very happy with the way she has returned from her winter break,” Waller said. “She appears to have filled out a little and this is backed up by the scales weighing 534kgs which is up about 5kgs at the same stage of her previous preparation.”
If she follows the same pattern as in 2016, winning the Warwick, George Main Stakes, Caufield Stakes, and Cox Plate, Winx would be able to eclipse the Australian earnings record of $ 14.526 million (about $ 11 million US), held by Makybe Diva.
