Top Australian racemare Winx scored her 12th win in a row on Saturday, winning the Group 1 Caufield Stakes by two lengths for trainer Chris Waller, reports theaustralian.com. The 5-year-old daughter of Street Cry has now won eight Group 1 races in her career, and scared off all but two competitors in Saturday’s race.
“She got a little uncomfortable on the home corner, which Sydney horses can do here at Caulfield,” said jockey Hugh Bowman. “When you watch the replay you’ll see her swap legs at a vital stage, but because I’ve got so much confidence in her, I could help her through that period and get balanced.”
“Bring on the Cox Plate now,” the jockey continued.
Winx is scheduled to defend her victory in the Cox Plate on Oct. 22.
