Rockingham Ranch and Gelfenstein Farm’s X Y Jet returned to trainer Jorge Navarro’s stable at Monmouth Park on Monday, reports the Daily Racing Form. The colt had been recovering at Taylor Made Farm from a knee chip found after his valiant second-place effort in the Dubai Golden Shaheen in March.
“He put on 125 pounds – he looks amazing, the best I’ve ever seen him,” said Navarro. “Taylor Made Farm did an excellent job with him. He’s tack-walking now, will probably start to shedrow in a couple of weeks, and then he’ll jog for another month before he starts serious training. I spoke to both owners and said let’s not stress about the Breeders’ Cup, let’s think about the horse, and if we make it, we make it.”
Before the Golden Shaheen, X Y Jet had won five straight races, including two graded stakes at Gulfstream Park. The owners’ hope is for the colt to compete in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint this fall at Santa Anita.
